Hollow Knight actually feels better portable. I’m not sure why exactly, but the intimate world of Hallownest suits a smaller screen. The hand-drawn art rewards close attention, and there’s something about being curled up with it that matches the game’s melancholy. Controls are precise, which matters when the platforming gets tricky. And the “explore until you’re stuck, then go somewhere else” structure fits any session length you’ve got.
